The Flash event in January was a success, as we saw nearly 100 clients getting Friday the 13th themed tattoos. Thank yous go out to the several local businesses who participated by donating to our Flash goody-bags. Not sure what we’ll do next, as the calendar is low on Friday the 13th’s for a while, but stay tuned to our business IG @thecollectivegallery_llc and the tattoo IG @thecollectivekailua for posts on upcoming events.
The shop has welcomed two stellar tattoo artist in the last couple of months, namely Robert Bennett and Josh Flinn. Both of these gents have joined us seamlessly, and we’re elated to have such nice dudes to work with.
Live music at The Collective keeps rolling, despite a wet and windy Hawaiian winter season. Some news on some of the musicians:
*** Megan Aho, a.k.a. Molly Whuppie, will perform on the lanai at The Collective during the next several Aloha Home Markets (340 Uluniu Street, our neighborhood parking lot). You can learn more about Megan in the CURRENT ISSUE OF HAWAIIAN AIRLINE’S “HANA HOU” MAGAZINE!! (Exciting!!) Megan will play February 11th AND March 5th.
*** Dominic Carlos appeared on February 2nd as the featured “new artist” in legendary performer Henry Kapono’s Artist 2 Artist series at Blue Note Hawaii. More than simply an opening act, Dominic, who last appeared at The Collective on January 22nd, performed 4 original songs, and concluded his time on stage with Henry Kapono himself. We’re ecstatic for Dominic — an artist on the rise and a super friend of The Collective.
*** Picking up on the Artist 2 Artist series, Matt Krahula is going to be the featured artist at the upcoming edition of the show on March 9th, again at Blue Note Hawaii. Matt approached us in the fall of 2020 about playing at our mural, and we’ve been grateful to host him at The Collective ever since. In addition to many musical efforts he has going on, he is notably the bassist for Henry Kapono’s band and can be found as you’d expect at Duke’s on Sunday, Duke’s Waikiki, right on the beach.
All for now — Easy Does It!
